I am interning at Offbeat Media, a business located on Frenchmen Street in the Marigny. Being right outside of the main part of the French Quarter most definitely adds to the vibe of the jobs I've encountered at Offbeat. My first impression of the internship was that everyone there, while professional, kind, and lively are additionally, laid back. Everyone I've met so far is clearly happy that they work for Offbeat Media, and it is exciting to be able to speak with all of the employees there. Today, I was able to learn a lot about the media company and magazine, in addition to promotional events and business management by meeting with the founder of the company, Jan Ramsey. She has already taught me a lot. Yesterday, while working with her granddaughter, Camille Ramsey, who also works for Offbeat and who is my sponsor for the internship, I was able to research some materials having to do with her job. Some things I am learning more about a future job as a person who works in marketing and advertisement are marketing strategies for media publications, suggested to me as research by my sponsor. The photo is of me in the entrance of Offbeat's offices, before helping my sponsor add to Offbeat's email list.
What a great opportunity to work at Offbeat: how fun! I'm glad to hear that you are in an interesting internship with laid back folks. Can't wait to see what comes next.
