Jack Fleishmann Blog Post #3

Today, I began the first day of my second internship.  This week, I am interning at Chateau Country Club with their head golf pro, Fernando.  I've been a member of Chateau for about five years now, and I have played a lot of golf there.  I've always asked myself the question, "What goes into running a golf course?".  It just so happened that Fernando was our golf coach for Saint Martin's this year, so he was the perfect person for me to shadow this week.  My day started at 8 am when I arrived at the golf course.  Tuesday mornings are ladies mornings, so the first thing we did was greet them off to the first tee box.  Soon after, Fernando drove me around on the golf cart, explaining to me the process of ripping the current greens up and putting down new ones.  The "construction" on the new greens will begin later this summer and be ready in early September.  Following that, I accompanied Fernando to a lesson he was giving on the driving range.  This was interesting to see from a "coaches" point of view.  Pictured above, I am unpackaging new golf balls, and putting price labels on each individual sleeve... a sleeve of golf balls is a 3 ball pack individually boxed within the dozen.  I am looking forward to continuing my week here at Chateau Country Club and maybe even getting to play a few holes with Fernando.
