Enzo Marcello Post #1

Monday morning I started my internship with Southern Insurance. They are an insurance agency located downtown. I chose this internship because It gives me insight to an industry that I won't be working in, but will still encounter when I am older in my job. Early in the morning they had a meeting with their entire office to go over the week's agenda. Over the weekend there was heavy rain and flooding which meant it was going to be a busy week. Over the course of the morning we visited multiple properties that had taken on water. In the afternoon everyone in the office was very busy due to the large amount of insurance claims resulting from the weekend's weather. I assumed I would be doing basic tasks because of my lack of experience in this area. To my surprise, this was not the case. A St. Martins graduate of 2001, Brandon Lobell, was employed there and was nice enough to walk me through a lot of the day to day work, despite the high work load. I'm surprised I'm learning so much from my internship. I'm very happy that the office is so congenial while also being professional. Overall my first day was very busy.
