Richard Whitney #1

This past week I shadowed Louisiana House Representative Kirk Talbot (Annabeth's dad). I chose to work representative Talbot because of my significant interest in government and politics. Each day I go to the capital building and sit on the house floor and listen to the questioning and debates between representatives about various bills. I have learned so much about how bills actually become laws and the process of state government. That being said elected office life is amazing. Say for example you are part of the insurance committee (Mr. Talbot is the chair), then you have a committee meeting Wednesday mornings and besides that, the regular hours for the floor start around 2 o'clock each day. The floor, however, can last from anywhere from 2-5 or 2-12. The latest day we had this week was until 9 o'clock. This is a picture of me on my first day of the internship.
