For the end of my internship, I had a few simple tasks. To start, Mr. Thomas and I emptied the bar fridge so we could reset it. I then had a meeting with Mr. David to discuss the Property Management System (PMS). The PMS they use has the channel distributor built into it so it is a one-stop-shop. This software runs and organizes all the booking and reservation of rooms, advertisement of the business, and constantly updates other booking websites of availability. Next, Mr. Thomas and I set up a Wii for game night that night. To finish the day, Mr. David wanted me to read two articles about the hostel industry. One article was a Harvard analysis of Generator Hostels, one of the biggest hostel companies, and the other article was a case study about the reservation website, HostelWorld. The articles showed how these two businesses tapped into a new growing market and made hundreds of millions of dollars. I really enjoyed my internship at The Quisby as it gave me insight into how a business really. I am excited to study business in college and I'm thankful for the opportunity Mr. David gave me.
