Charley Leopold Blog Post #1

For this first week, I'm interning with Senator "Norby" Chabert. I work at the state capital in Baton Rouge.  I pretty much just run around retrieving copies of bills from printers and getting him coffee/water. I also sit in on his committee hearings, which is where the committee members hear drafts of laws that could potentially make it to the Senate floor, the committee will either object it or move it forward. It is interesting to hear the laws that were brought to the committee. For example, one law wanted to allow Uber Eats, Postmates, Insta-Cart, etc. to deliver alcohol along with meals that have been ordered.  The bill was objected. It's very hectic up here but I enjoy the running around.  I've been to two parties that they usually host after being in session all day. Pretty cool, free food and drinks.

  1. Love the picture, Charley. Sounds like a very interesting internship. I would love to hear the different types of bills that go through there.
