Elise Lafleur Post #2
This week, I was able to look around the museum a bit, and I was allowed to see the back room where they stored pieces of art that aren’t on display. It has been the favorite part of my internship so far, and it is amazing to see the incredible volume of art the curatorial staff has to work with. I have continued to help to plan the Magnolia Ball silent auction, and it has given me a great appreciation of the work that goes behind planning and execution of such events. Though some of the tedious work such as logging in the names of attendees or checking off the list of auction items in house hasn’t been my favorite, it has given me great respect for those who are behind it all. To be able to keep track of all the small details behind the big picture of such a large event is an impressive feat and is what allows those events to run as smoothly as they do. Next time I go to any festival, large party, conference, or anything along those lines, I will be unable to not notice all the work that goes behind the small things that I wouldn’t have noticed before.
