Farah Wells Post #2

Today, I worked a larger event at the Southern Yacht Club. This was an outside(-ish) venue and a larger staff was required. There were four boats that the staff members were working on and everyone was moving among the docks from boat to boat. There were originally five boats, however, two hours before the event began Ms. Lisa was notified they managed to spread out the guests to remove one boat so I saw how the catering group made adjustments last minute to those kinds of situations. This event today honestly made me happy I began on a day they had a smaller, slower event (the one at Sacred Heart). I saw the advantages of that as I already knew everyone's names and got to personally talk and get to know all the people I am working with. It made this larger event and the unfamiliar environment more comfortable because of that. In this picture, I am standing in front of the boat named "Hello Dolly" (which is also the name of one of my longtime favorite movies, based on a musical!). The next event we have is at Canal Place and I am looking forward to it! One of the aspects of this job I enjoy is the different venues and sizes of groups we cater to. I think I wouldn't do well in an environment where everything was the same each day and at the same place, so I really enjoy the versatility and variation in this job!
