I began my internship on Monday under Lisa Hasney, the Operations Manager of Ralph Brennan's Catering Group. I initially sought out Event Planning companies to do my internship with, however, those contacts did not work out and Ms. Lisa was kind enough to allow me to do mine with her last minute! I am happy this job worked out because this has been insightful to multiple areas of what I am interested in such as design, management, and hospitality. The very first day I got to the office Ms. Lisa showed me the paperwork required for every event, such as "costing" and inventory, and how her role worked in connection to the other roles of the team such as the Managing Director and Director of Sales. I sat in on a meeting with Ms. Gail Varuso, the Director of Sales and listened to them planning the setup for an event this coming Monday. I really enjoyed this meeting because it had a lot to do with the design aspect I am interested in! The event we had Monday night was a small dinner for the Sacred Heart Board at Sacred Heart. In this picture, I am helping set up the tables.
I'm so glad you finally landed a good internship, Farah. Sounds like this will be good training for the planning I know you will be doing one day.
