For my internship, I'll be shadowing a few different photographers at The Advocate. I chose this internship because I'm trying to figure out if I should pursue journalistic photography or artistic photography in the future. On Monday morning, I went to the Advocate headquarters. There I connected with the photo editor, who interviewed me for the position last month, and he gave me a few books to read, an AP style book and my press pass. He also showed me around the building and taught me how to use all the equipment in the portrait studio. My first day in the field wasn't until today, May 15th. Being a photojournalist means I don't have specific hours to be at an office, so instead I've been on call all day. I started the day at the Pelican's training facility photographing an interview about how getting the first draft pick affected everyone in the office. Then later that night, I went to Wesley Barrow Stadium and The Southern baseball team in a first-round game of the Southwestern Athletic Conference. So far, it's lots of grateful that this internship worked out.
How much fun, Clara! You are really getting good experience. I can't wait to hear what you think after these two weeks.
