Aidan Bonano Blog Post #1

My first day working at the biomedical building at Tulane downtown was not what I expected at all. We a man named Dr. Gucci to oversee our internship and he has allowed both Griff and I to be very active in his own research. He began to touch us about how to use the equipment in the lab as well as instruct us on what purpose his research actually served. He taught us how to breed cells for the purpose of cancer research as well as his own personal project to help people with a disease affecting the lung which has been an ongoing problem. I was shocked to see how much this internship would benefit me in my years of study to come in the medical field. Much of our first day was spent touring the different labs and coming to understand their uses as well as the instruments inside these labs so we would be prepared for the next day where we would begin to assist with his research. I was also surprised to see how tedious of an effort working in a lab is and how everything you do must be very precise and one slip up could mean restarting weeks of research in some cases. Regardless I'm interested to see what he has us do next.

  1. Aidan, I'm so happy you are getting to do actual research in the lab. What a great experience. I'm interested to see what else you'll be doing.
