My second day working at the internship was extremely impressive as i was able to watch a real experiment undergo. I was able to begin my work that Dr. Gucci had planned for us so we could began breeding our cells as well. By far the most interesting i got to experience was watching an experiment being performed on a mouse. The experiment being conducted was impressive as the lab workers infected multiple mice with cancer and allowed the tumor to grow in a controlled environment. They then explained to me how when they apply droplets of a certain compound to the mouse then send ultrasound waves through it triggers the compound slowly destroying the cancer right in front of my eyes. It was a really great experience that definitely sparked my interest and gave me hope of what the future can hold for this type of research. I look forward to seeing what else they will show me before my internship is over.
