I am working at Prytania Vet with my cousin who is a doctor there. As I shadow Taylor Ghere, one of Prytania Vets top tier doctors, I’ve come to realize she is one of the youngest, yet best doctors in the building. She was very busy the first day, and I was running all over the place with her, attending several appointments. All cats and dogs came in for different things. One very cute boxer had all kinds of problems, and had been in the vet every other week with a new health problem in addition to the others. One dog came in that had swallowed an actual keychain and was force fed a pill so that he could vomit it out. I enjoyed hearing about the health complications of the animal, then researching and brainstorming about what the solutions could be. Whenever Taylor was busy with paper work, I would wonder into the dog kennel, where all kinds of cute animals would be while waiting to be picked up from their owners. I had gained a newfound respect for veterinarians, after witnessing how much they care for and work for these animals. Overall, I have to say it was a very hectic, yet interesting first day.
