The first day of my internship was on Monday, May 13. For those of you who do not know, I am interning at Lucid. Lucid is a data/survey company located downtown in One Canal Place whose CEO is actually on the board of St. Martin’s. I chose to do my internship here because it is very close, if not identical, to the field I envision myself going into in the future. At Tulane next year I intend to major in Mathematics and minor in Computer Science. These are skills which would transition to a company like Lucid quite well! Perhaps the most important aspect of my time with Lucid is the endless connections I will make with a company that is one of the leading players in the Tech field in New Orleans. The experience and the few skills I will gain in these two weeks are wonderful, but two weeks is a short time to gain priceless skills in, so for this reason it is the connections I am establishing that excite me most. For somebody in my situation—a young adult who wants to go into a Tech company, ideally in his hometown—interning at Lucid opens up a real job possibility in the future. So far, the internship is exactly what I expected. I have only gone 1.5 days due to AP exams, but I have sat in on many meetings and even learned some coding (my personal favorite thus far)!
Bennet, it sounds like you landed the perfect internship! I'm so glad you're enjoying it, learning, and making valuable connections.
