Mikki Dennies Post #2

On Wednesday at my internship, I watched an experiment be done on vaginal tissue from a mouse. I was surprised on how much work went into testing the tissue, and how many components are involved, photo 1. Basically, they are testing the tissue to see how stretching and applying pressure can impact the diameter.  I found it interesting watching the graphs move as different things are changed. We also took pictures of the tissue by using an ultrasound machine, photo 2, which were super cool to see! On Thursday,  I got to see the mice colony, where they keep the mice. While there, I got to see one day old mice pups, which were super cute! Today, I helped edit a dissection protocol for grammatical errors and, then I was taken to the Pharmacology department to see more of the work I am interested in, such as, how different medications cause the body to react. It was really cool! I also watched a dissection on a mouse again. And from the mouse, vaginal tissue was taken and tested for the same reason it was on Wednesday. Most of the work is sitting at a computer, clicking buttons, and watching graphs. It may not sound like the most interesting thing in the world, but you'd be surprised how quickly time goes by. Can't wait to see what next week's project will be!
