Today, I am working specifically on writing an event preview for Offbeat Magazine for one of their future issues. This led me to the ultimate answer of "why did you choose this internship?" I chose this internship so that I could learn more about the process behind making a magazine- specifically regarding the writing process. As a Mass Communications major next year, however, it's great to learn not only about that writing process, but also about the marketing, business, video, layout, and even more parts of the process of putting together a magazine. So far, I have learned about myself through this internship. I thought that I would solely be interested in the writing aspect of things, but I have also been thrilled to participate in learning more about the business side of the industry. This validates for me that Mass Communications is right for me since it marries all aspects of this job together so that with my future degree, I can work in writing, public relations, marketing, etc. Overall, this internship brightens the future I have in a longterm career path and helps me to understand that I'll have options after college.
