Madalyn Cranford Post #2

Sunday night, I worked my second shift of being a NICU nurse. When I arrived at 6:45pm Mrs. Amanda informed me she was a floater nurse that night. A floater is someone that is not assigned patients and they check on all the nurses to make sure they do not need anything. Floaters also help out with births. She also told me that we had to rush to the O.R for a scheduled C section. We hurried and changed into different scrubs and hurried to the operating room. We had to put on a hat and wear masks before we walked in. We were in the room right next to where the mom was giving birth. Right when the babies arrived we assessed them and made sure everything was normal. This was a really cool experience for me, being that I am a twin myself and I got to see what they did when me and my twin sister were born. Another C section was scheduled for 9:00pm, so Mrs. Amanda and I helped out with that one also. After each baby is born they are rushed to the NICU if they are under 34 weeks no matter the circumstances. I am so pleased with my internship choice. It has been everything that I expected.
